Are you a training professional? Here’s what you need to know about the Student Identifiers Act 2014
With our latest Version 5.5 Release, we’re excited to show you
what’s new in INX InTuition!
What is the Student Identifiers Act 2014?
Keeping up with the latest legislation is vital for organisations to not only stay up to date with the new imposed changes, but also to maintain compliance; and organisations want to make sure they are not left behind when new regulations apply to them.
So what is the Student Identifiers Act 2014 and how does it apply to you?
The Student Identifiers Act 2014 is an Act which allows for the collection of complete records of all training enrolments and achievements of a person which has a Unique Student Identifier code.
It outlines that a “registered training organisation must not issue a qualification of statement of attainment to an individual after 2014 unless the individual has a student identifier”; meaning that it is a mandatory data field for reporting nationally recognised training. Unless exempt, a student’s USI must be collected before issuing a qualification or statement of attainment for any undertaken nationally recognised training.
Why do I need a USI?
The Council of Australian Governments has established that all students doing nationally recognised training need to have a USI, where every year almost four million Australians build and sharpen their skills by undertaking nationally recognised training. So, if you are a new or continuing student undertaking nationally recognised training, you need a USI in order to receive your qualification or statement of attainment. If you don’t have a USI you will not receive your qualification or statement of attainment.
Unique Student Identifier field in INX InTuition
One of the new features added to INX InTuition in Version 5.5 is the Unique Student Identifier field.
As a result of the Council of Australian Governments agreement to provide a tool to allow students to obtain a complete record of all their training enrolments and achievements and the enactment of the Student Identifiers Act 2014, a new field has been added to the Person Profile to record this 10 character identifier.
This field can be enabled and disabled through the INX System Settings.
