What is Safe Work Australia?
Safe Work Australia is an Australian government statutory body established in 2008 to develop national policy relating to work health and safety (WHS) and workers’ compensation. They are an inclusive, tripartite body (working in partnerships with governments, employers, and employees) to drive national policy developments on WHS matters.
What are the Model WHS Regulations?
Safe Work Australia developed a single set of WHS laws to be implemented across Australia, which are known as ‘model’ laws. For these models laws to become legally binding, the Commonwealth, states and territories must separately implement them as their own laws.
