Did you know what Work-related Injuries and Fatalities cost society $142.5mil every year?

What is Safety+Health magazine?
The Safety+Health magazine, published by the National Safety Council, offers comprehensive national coverage of occupational safety news and analysis of industry trends. As the nation’s leading safety advocate for more than 100 years, the National Safety Council is a nonprofit organization with the mission of eliminating preventable deaths at work, in homes and communities, and on the road through leadership, research, education and advocacy.

The National Safety Council advances this mission by engaging businesses, government agencies, elected officials and the public to help prevent the fourth leading cause of death in the U.S. – preventable injuries.

What is going on in the current safety landscape?
Observing the health and safety metrics from last year, there are a number of statistics indicating there needs to be more done to ensure worker safety in job-specific activities and various industries.

For example, one of the most cited standard in 2017 was the Fall Protection – General Requirements (1926.501), with a total of 6,887 violations. This indicates that there is either not enough ‘working at heights’ precautions enforced, or these protocols are simply not followed.
