Work your way is here to stay – our tips for employers

INX Software exists to create safer, smarter and sustainable workplaces … and that includes our own!

Like millions of other businesses, it was game on when the COVID pandemic hit and we quickly pivoted in response  – rapidly shifting to remote operations, supporting our employees at home and at work, juggling a now hybrid workforce and addressing the legal and compliance issues around COVID, without dropping the ball on productivity and performance.

#WorkFromHome model set to stay

Happy staff are a huge plus. Gartner’s 2020 Reimagine HR Employee Survey shows that organisations offering flexibility and support for employee’s personal lives, as well as their careers, are reaping the rewards. In organisations where employees have some choice over where, when and how much they work, 55% were high performers, compared with 36% of those working 40 hours a week in the office.

But remote working has its downsides too, with some employers worrying about the potential cost of increased coordination, reduced employee visibility, limited team interaction and knowledge sharing, stymied creativity and the decreasing effectiveness of collaborative processes.

A major review by the Australian Government’s Productivity Commission, in October 2022, found most people liked working from home, at least some of the time, and #workfromhome was likely to remain a feature of working life long after the COVID crisis passed.

The Commission said,

“Australia’s work health and safety (WHS) system is set up well to handle more widespread working from home. But working from home creates more complexity for managing WHS risks, in that the employer has less visibility and control of the working environment. This may raise the perceived costs of working from home to the employer. Much will depend on the evolution of case law on what is ‘reasonably practical’ when working from home.”

How INX Software is managing the new normal

As a progressive employer attracting top talent in the very competitive tech space, INX has reshaped its definition of the workplace with a progressive new policy and a robust framework that gives clarity and choice to our 130-strong international workforce.

As long as workloads, deadlines and business needs can be met, our staff can choose to:

  • Dial Up and Dial Down –-  increase or reduce their working hours, go part-time or job share.
  • Define their work day – within the hours of 6am to 10pm, seven days a week.
  • Do the locomotion –  work from any location or time zone for up to 90 days a year.

For flexible working arrangements to be successful, they have to work for clients and the business as well as the employee, so it is imperative to build in some careful provisos and manage expectations by making it clear that requests are not guaranteed but will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Our team is committed to delivering great results for our clients and we are committed to embracing the change that gives them a great working environment.

At INX Software, our business is built on the innovation and the talent of our people…wherever they are around the world! Interested in being part of the team?
