Land Surveys is a national surveying company which has been in operation for more than 20 years. Land Surveys provide and conduct surveying services in mining, construction, rail and hydro.
Their team consists of more than 200 people nationally and internationally, giving them the capability to scale resources to fit the job. It also gives Land Surveys a resources advantage, having made a considerable investment in equipment and technology that they are able to deploy across the business, making Land Surveys a one-stop-shop for all their clients’ surveying needs.
We spoke with Land Surveys’ Health, Safety, Environment and Quality (HSEQ) Manager, Andrew Clarke, about they are using INX Software’s safety and environmental tool, INX InControl, to reduce risks, increase compliance and ensure a safety, smarter, more sustainable workplace.
How long have you been in the health, safety, environmental and quality (HSEQ) management field?
More than 10 years.
Which solution do you use to manage your HSEQ requirements, and how do you use it in your daily operations?
I use INX InControl, to manage health, safety, and environment (HSE) activities. My role at Land Surveys as a safety, quality and environmental manager is quite complex. It typically involves logging onto the INX InControl system, identifying what events have come through and reviewing them, and allocating them to responsible event report managers.
How is having a safety management system preparing you for industry changes?
Next year poses significant challenges to Western Australia regarding safety, with the new WHS Harmonisation laws due to come into effect. The INX InControl system allows us to identify and make such changes with ease.
Has INX changed how you manage risks?
Yes, it really has. It has helped us manage risk at Land Surveys, having our information digitally available. INX InControl removes the need for a paper-based system, and everybody has the ability to raise hazards either on their laptops or on their mobile phones.
What is one of your favourite INX functions?
The incident reporting is one of the greatest functions of INX InControl. Its ease of use is really beneficial to Land Surveys and also the outputs identifying injury frequency rates, trends, and root cause analysis a really handy and really useful tools for us.
What is the benefit for you and your team of INX InControl Mobile app?
The INX InControl Mobile app has been extremely beneficial for Land Surveys, given that most of our surveyors are working in the field.
How has INX made a difference in how you manage HSEQ in your workplace?
Using INX web and mobile solutions has allowed Land Surveys to be a lot more productive and efficient in all business matters.
